The Vasaloppet race is said to be one of the world's oldest
and longest races for cross country skiing. The ski race was
started in 1922. The Vasaloppet was inspired by by a run
made by the future King Gustav Vasa in 1520. Ernst Alma from
Sweden won the race going down in history to become the
youngest ever to win such a race.
World Famous Skier from Sweden Nils Emanuel Karlsson is
known world wide as one of the all time best skiers.

Emanuel Karlsson also known as Mora Nisse is a world famous
skier that had won the Vasaloppet 9 times)
Nils Emanuel Karlsson aka Mora Nisse is one
of the best Swedish Cross Country Skiers also having won the
Olympic Gold Medial in the 1948 Winter Olympics at the 50 KM
race, Nils Karlsson won also a Bronze Medal in the 50 KM
1950 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Nils karlsson won a
total of 37 gold medals in the Swedish National
Championships & won 17 other individual competitions or
more.
Though most videos and
recorded footage of the vasaloppet is copyrighted material &
I have only the ice videos to share & skating videos of my
own it was still worth a mention to explain the vassolopet
and tell information about Swedish Skier Nils Emanuel
Karlsson whom some may know as Mora Niesse.
A sister race or copied race
that is not quite as huge as the Swedish Vasaloppet was
later started in the usa. The American Vasaloppet is held in
Mora, Minnesota *USA*. The first place male and female
winners of the 58 KM freestyle race in the usa win a trip to
compete in the Swedish Vasaloppet or can win 10 thousand
dollars in prize money.
